'I Didn't Know I Was Pregnant'

I can now vouch that it is possible to be pregnant and not know it.

About two weeks ago, my back started hurting. It reminded me of when I had a kidney infection, only higher up the back. After a week of sharp pains, I finally went to the doctor who told me I was probably "stopped up" if you know what I'm sayin'. Luckily, my friend Natalie is a nurse and she told me to demand a blood or urine test to check for infection, and thank goodness she did or I still wouldn't know I was pregnant.

Other than the chest growth, I've had ZERO symptoms, and when you practice multiple forms of birth control, pregnancy is not something you would even consider. The OB even asked Will if he had noticed anything, and he couldn't think of a single thing. That coupled with the fact that I'm not showing, you probably won't believe that I'm NINETEEN WEEKS pregnant. I'm not just expecting...I'm halfway flippin' through the whole pregnancy! Crazy right?

For the past week, people have asked me if I'm happy and/or excited, and up until yesterday, the only response I could come up with was that I was in shock. You all know babies were not anywhere near our radar, so it's no surprise that this came as a surprise. It's been really fun telling the family, our close friends, and a few bloggy friends, but after the excitement of giving the news, I was sad because I didn't feel pregnant at the end of the day. However, our first OB appointment started to turn that around. Seeing a FULLY formed 10oz nugget in there made it more real, and now that I know the sex it's even more fun to start seeing the future and talking baby names. In case you are wondering...IT'S A GIRL!!

You can all now say I told you so...I know you've been waiting ;)

Ekkk! SO exciting! Congratulations!!!!
Is so crazy that you had no idea. I sometimes watch that show with the ladies that have no idea they are pregnant until the baby pops out...I thought they were nuts....but I guess it could happen. :)
Being a mom is the best thing ever! So happy for you!

GAH! So so, so, so exciting lady!!!! Since you're like me and my husband, no babies on the radar, I really did think pregnant. BUUUUUUT, you KNOW I jumped up in down when you told me!!!! Literally, jumped and cheered because I'm so happy for you and Will.

I can imagine the shock, totally understandable. I bet it's been so awesome telling everyone. Y'all are gong to be the best parents in the world, no doubt in my mind.

BTW< you are glowing in your pictures! They are gorgeous, you look so happy and gosh, Baby Motel, such a cute sign!

I love you, tons lady! I know I'm not a mama, but I'm here for you IF YOU NEED ANYTHING! <3 to you, Will and precious baby girl!!!

WEEEEE!!! xoxo

Oh wow, congratulations!! That is amazing. You definitely aren't showing.

I'm always intrigued when this happens. It might be a TMI question - but were you still getting your monthly's?

Congratulations!!!!!! OMGsh I'm SO happy for you!! I have two little girls and they are the BEST! They do change a marriage - but it's for the better! We don't go out as much or drink as much (I don't really drink at all), but to me that's a good thing! We actually now have MORE quality, one-on-one time than before (once the kids are asleep anyways, haha). Best of luck!!!!!

I am still dying over this.... but SO freakin' excited! Love these sweet pictures! AH! You're going to love this phase of life, promise! But don't feel bad if you're still in shock mode- most girls have WEEKS to get used to the idea until announcing it to the world... you, well, you know, you're half way through your pregnancy and just finding out ;)

I'm tellin' ya though, I think that's the way to go! Not nearly the amount of head games when you're clueless about the pregnancy, ha ha! I bet you'll start feeling movement any day now though, THAT'S an amazing feeling!!

Still so happy for you and Will! She is going to be one spoiled, very loved baby girl!

Yay for summer girl babies! Welcome to the club! I'm at 24 weeks, still barely showing, and still don't quite know how to feel about it (even though I've seen her several times, it still doesn't feel real until I actual look it)

Anyway, congratulations!!

OMG this is the most exciting thing I've read all day! I'm so happy for you both; I know you will make great parents! I'm not going to lie, the thought of being pregnant without knowing has always terrified me a little bit, especially once that show came out. Now I can officially say I know someone this has happened to. But seriously, you two are going to rock the whole parenting thing...and it's one heck of a story for your little princess one day ;)

Rach said...

:D!!! I am just so happy for you guys! You two really are going to make the cutest parents! You guys have such a strong and loving marriage - this little girl is so blessed to grow up with that. :)

And these photos are adorable! Soon you'll feel her moving around and you'll really be able to wrap your mind around her existence. :) I've never had a kiddo of my own so I can't help a lot with the pregnancy advice part, but I've raised a lot of kids being a nanny so if you ever need advice - I'm here for ya! :)

Completely random question, but you didn't worry about not getting your period during those 18 weeks that you could of been pregnant? Just curious how that works Congrats though on baby girl to be! :) You always hear stories of women not knowing, so that is why I ask about the period thing. Figuring maybe you are one of those that hardly gets a period to notice or no?

Rachel said...

Whoa! I wasn't on the internet much during February because we were traveling, and when I came back and started reading your most recent posts, I could not figure out how you managed to get halfway through pregnancy without me noticing an announcement at some point--after reading this, that makes a lot more sense, since, no one, not even you, knew until just recently! Well that's a huge, and happy, shock to be sure! Congratulations, you'll be rocking a little baby girl on the outside before you know it!
