Just Like Riding A Bike

It is true that you can never forget how to ride a bike, however, it isn't near as easy as when you were young, energetic, and fearless. If anyone tells you different...they're liars.

I've been wanting a bike for awhile now, so when my dad offered me one I jumped at the chance. Since I had a bike, that meant we needed one for Will too, and two weeks later we had two bikes for a total cost of $25 bucks. You know how we roll. We are ready to hit the trails, bike around town, and more importantly...we can now go hang out with our friends and I won't have to DD! Just kidding, I still probably won't drink, but it's nice to have the option.

But just so you know, the first day on that bike KILLED my ass...literally. We went about ten miles, and it was aaaaall hills. I expected a lovely afternoon ride, indicated by my casual outfit, and instead I was huffin' and puffin' trying to keep my hat on. In spite of that, we laughed as we walked up a few of the steep ones, edited our route when we needed to, and really enjoyed the smoothies we picked up along the way.

I now think everyone should have a bike!

Green Is My Favorite Color, But Never With Envy

Let me start this out by bragging  that I ate my first doughnut in YEARS the morning of the race. As much as I preach that calories don't come free, one does not say no to a fresh Krispy Kreme. I asked Will if he would eat half, but two bites in, I knew I might as well eat the whole thing. It was pure heaven, and the only thing that would have made it better would have been chocolate icing. Fun fact: Will and I got into a fight one time because he wouldn't go into Krispy Kreme with me after a night of drinking. Come to think of it, I'm still bitter about that. I'm not used to him telling me no, even if he does hate doughnuts. Seriously, who hates doughnuts?

I'll also blame my doughnut eating on the fact that I got zero sleep the night before and having to get up at 5AM. Technically we didn't have to be there until 8:30, but we caught a ride with my brothers and SIL who were working the race. We knew we'd be drinking aaaall day, so we planned ahead. No car, no DUI. Don't worry, we weren't the first ones there. By the time we showed up people were already dressed up and drankin'. No kidding, even Will was taking shots of Jameson at 7AM, for he said it was "cold". I can't play innocent, though. We ended up hanging out with some friends at a Crossfit gym, and they had me taking so many jello shots that I was lovin' all up on Will before the race even started. Don't judge.

This was in fact, the first 5K that Will or I had participated in, so we were all prepared to have 24 minute run times. Originally, we were going to head to the starting line as soon as we arrived, but our friends are bad influences and seduced us to stay and drink. From the picture above, I would say that we ended up behind about 5,000 people. However, I won't complain about weaving through the people as we ran; it made it more of a challenge. Plus, I was just enjoying running behind this hunk. It makes me think of those Memes where Ryan Gosling is at the finish line. Except mine's hotter.

Will finished first so he {tried} to take pictures of me crossing the finish line. If you've done a race, you know this is easier said than done with tons of runners crossing at the same time, but I found the following picture on one of the sites that had race recaps. So candid.
Candid / ˈkandid/(of a photograph of a person) taken informally, esp. without the subject's knowledge. For everyone that takes selfies or has someone take your picture and says hashtagcandid, we all KNOW it's not really candid. Just thought you should know.

Now, I don't know how most 5K's are, but this one is more about the after party than anything. They give you FREE UNLIMITED BEER AND IRISH WAKES UNTIL NOON. I didn't even know this until the morning of. Can you believe it? All you can drink, and there weren't even lines to get the booze. You walked up, and they handed you a beverage of choice. My mind was blown, and it was party on.

Side Note: The blonde next to Will that isn't me, is a friend of his from high school in Virginia. We met up with her beforehand at the Crossfit gym, and she happened to be with friends that I used to go to church with! Just goes to show what a small world it is.

Even after noon we kept going since the other bars around had parties going on, but we still made it back to McGuire's to eat. You just can't beat their food while you are drinking, and I wanted to go mess with my little brother while he worked. Isn't he so cute in a bow tie?

You would think we stopped there, but our ride was coming to get us until 4:00, so back out we went.

With a few stops in between.

I can't wait for next year! You should come too.

Happy Friday

It is Friday, right? It's funny that since neither Will nor I have work, we just don't care what day of the week it is. Other than making sure that rent and bills are paid on time, we ain't got nuttin' to worry about. Well, other than the fact that I'm not used to this, so I constantly feel like I'm forgetting something. Hopefully notWhile I have been living in this little bubble I've missed some fun little link ups, but I am a fond believer in the phrase better late than never, so I'm still going to put my two cents in. That's just the kinda girl I am...

The kinda girl who...
Always tries to look 'put together' when I leave the house.
Works out to eat more.
Dedicates every fiber to my marriage.
Can read people and use that to my advantage.
Doesn't cook every meal perfect, but can compete in the kitchen.
USED to be a 'career' minded woman.
Knows a lot about cars, can change a tire, and even my own oil!
Rarely curses.
Only loses my cool when I'm PMS'ing. That I'll admit.
Isn't afraid of guns.

What can I say? Shooting is for sport and for putting food on the table in my family. I've said it before, and I'll say it again, I'm all about gun control...we have great control of our guns, hence why we are all a good shot in my family.

You may not want to watch the following, Kathy. I know you Canadians can't handle this, even though I think you'd be a bad@ss shot.
Just sayin'.

And because blogging really is like reading Cosmopolitan these days and for the simple fact that I LOVE Erin...

I'm actually watching Sex And The City right now, which confirms my choice in Carrie. I wouldn't say I'm just like her, but I'd rather be the go-getter that gets Mr. Big {symbollic of Will to me} than neurotic, whorish, or meek like the others.

Okay, enough play time, I have to go "work" on my closet room. Haha, who am I kidding here? I'm SO excited to work on the closet room! We are setting it up and updating it this weekend and I couldn't be happier. Don't worry, I'll share more once this house starts coming together. I want it all done right now, but I have to keep reminding myself that there's no time limit. Ain't got nuttin' but time. Happy weekend, all!

The Day Has Come To Retire My Orange Shorts

Welp. It's here.
My LAST day of work.
After working at Hooters for five years, six months, and some odd days, I am retiring my shorts and leaving my fun, easy job behind. Don't get me wrong, I worked my tail-feathers off, but I would be remiss in saying that it wasn't worth every penny.

I'm in three of those photos...can you spot me?

It's going to be crazy saying goodbye to all the friends I have made in the past three years, and all the memories I created in those damn orange shorts. I'm just happy I don't have to wear those shorts this weekend, because for the first time in years-
I won't have to work Superbowl!

I must say, I feel bad about this years match up, though. My whole family is rooting for the Seahawks because my cousin is a scout for the team, but between living in Colorado and my girl Anna being married to Wes Welker, I'm going to have to go for the Broncos. Plus I'm pretty sure the Broncos are going to whoop up on the Seahawks, and we will see how that #1 Defense really stacks up under pressure.

Yep, I totally name dropped today, and I don't even feel bad about it. It's not like I've ever met Wes himself. I just think is wife is a badass, and I love her. Fun Fact: Anna was Miss Hooters International in 2005. She's kind of a big deal...

Now, it's time for me to go make that moneymoneymoneymon-ay, and then take the Birthday boy to Denver for Jo Koy. It's not like we should be doing anything important like packing or anything. I mean hey, we've got aaaalll the way until...shit...we have less than a week left. How the eff did that happen?

So who are you rooting for?
