Blogtober Roundup #1

I will never blog every day within a month, but I do enjoy the prompts and fellowship of blog challenges. Luckily, there is no rule against combining the prompts as I see fit.

Helene in Between Blogtober

+ Dream job when I was little:

Well, other than wanting to be a famous singer, I've been a 'writer' as long as I can remember. When I was a kid, there was no doubt in my mind that I would be the next Carolyn Keene.

+ One thing I can't live without:

There should be no doubt in anyone's mind that my dear William is the only thing I can't live without. We have the kind of love that transcends all, and even when he is away for training or deployed he's still in my heart and a part of me. I also made him promise that I could die first, because I don't EVER want to live without him.

+ Favorite photo on Instagram:
I happen to think all of my IG pictures are the cat's meow, but here is one that just speaks to my soul. You mix the right angle, colors, and my love for the beach, and it's a winner!

+ Fall Bucket List:

Drive In Theater...check.
Homemade Applebutter...double check.
New Fall Family Pictures {Preferably in a cotton field somewhere}
Family Reunion
Ten Year High School Reunion
Epic Halloween Shindig
Football, and specifically Florida/Georgia trip to J-Ville
Dothan Peanut Festival

Mostly, I will be relishing in the fact that we won't be getting any snow. Coloradans are already cranking their heaters, while we throw open the doors and windows to welcome a 'cold front'. Technically we don't throw them, but you get the picture. Is it cold where you live?

How 'bout A Little Five For Friday Acción

UNO. I worked on my new Secretarial paperwork all week, and come to find out, the President didn't need any of it until next week. I got to email her back and say "Well actually, it's all finished already ;)". What can I say, I'm the best secretary EVER. Volunteer secretary, that is.

DOS. Father's Day is RIGHT around the corner. I already got my dad a combination Ladderball/Cornhole game because who doesn't want one of those, and then, THEN, I stumbled on these Sticky9 Instagram Refrigerator Magnets. My dad LOVES things like that, so I couldn't pass it up or the free shipping. If you need a Father's Day gift or just want your own, you could even use my code for 15% off: FRIENDWV2F. You're welcome.

TRES. Today, I find out if I'm pregnant. I don't actually think I'm pregnant, but my doc made me pee in a cup anyways. Like for real, I know I'm not pregnant, and to be clear- STILL NOT READY to be pregnant, but I did have a few butterflies in my tummy at the thought of being pregnant. I know you are all saying "Told ya so!", but I promise, the 'thought' is as far as I'm willing to go at this point. This too shall pass... if the test is negative.

CUATRO. It's really good that I'll get the test results today, because we are going to be drinking heavily while tubing down the river on Saturday! I haven't been tubing in far too long, so I am BEYOND excited. Like BEYOND...Totally going white girl on ya, because I "Like can't even".

CINCO. Since you asked (Well, Nicole asked), here is the floor lamp I made!

Long story short, my dad has learned to give me anything he has lying around, so I took this metal stand home, literally tied fabric on it {Pinspiration here}, tore apart an old table lamp, combined the two, and voila...I saved $100 smackers.

I may even pick up another lamp kit to light up the bottom too. Heck, before you know it, I'll just have random lamps all over my house.  As Buck and Will say, I'll totally be your Pinterest for hire! Peace out kids, I'm going tubin'!

I Finally Hit A Wall

And boy did I hit it hard.
Other than a few irrational moments, I've been trucking along trying to take this whole move in stride. I actually thought I had avoided the big melt down, but in doing so, it must have taken a toll on my body. How do I know this? I have been left physically immobile today. Yes, I'm sore from going to the gym after a week off, but I have NEVER been so sore and physically drained for no apparent reason. I don't seem to be sick <yet>, so Will grounded me to the couch for a much needed respite today. The in-laws are gone, the house is quiet, and Netflix is the height of my entertainment.

I must say, this move was easier than the last. We worked like a well oiled machine no matter what was thrown at us, and you know I'll follow Will to the ends of the Earth, it's just that sometimes we all forget that we are mere mortals and have to allow ourselves a 'moment' and time to process in stressful situations such as these. Perhaps if I had given myself a break instead of trying to remain cool, calm, and collected, it wouldn't have hit me all at once causing this debilitating condition. Oy vey, I swear I'm not looking for pity, just admitting that I don't have it all together, and I'm ooooookay with that.

Anywho, the following was the highlight of my day because everyone loves a visual in blogging, and I'm not about to post a picture of myself laid up with my legs wrapped in a heating blanket, {but for reference, it definitely helped the muscles}.

This transition is going to be well worth these little hiccups, and luckily I have the most amazing and supportive husband by my side. Good news, is that the in-laws left just in time for Valentines' Day, 'cuz as we all know, it's not exactly a family holiday. Aw sookie sookie. Happy Valentine's Day and mental health to all! I plan to be tip top shape by then ;)
