Boys behind the blog Aug 15

Boys Behind The Blog

If you have been around this blog for awhile, you know that my husband is the star character. I'm sorry to admit it, but when he is on the blog, I take a back seat to Mr. Studmuffin. But can I blame y'all for that? No. He's wonderful, and I know it. Hence why I married him- I have good taste.

Case in point:

This is why I just knew that this linkup was a good reason for a visit, and Will was happy to oblige! {He secretly loves it}

The Boys Behind the Blog #3 Questions:

1. What would you do with $1,000,000?
 Buy several properties in Pensacola {to rent out}, and make the wifey quit her job to manage them. Been telling her to do that a while, so that she can travel with me whenever possible. Annnnd maybe sneak a baby in. She probably won't notice, haha.

2. What is your dream job?
I love my job now, and all the opportunities it affords me and the fam, but I would say ideally it would be a 9-5 that would never make me travel {away from my wife}. For now I will settle for helicopter pilot {the job he's working hard to get}. Tell you what happens come September. ;)

3. Who is your celebrity crush?
I got conned into this question once before when we first started dating. I had watched Summer Catch the day prior, went with Jessica Biel, and I'm sticking with her. You might remember Janna mentioning it her blog not too long ago, haha. I follow it very closely, so I remember ;)

4. What is your favorite sports team?
I actually don't like watching sports, which is weird for a lifelong athlete. I just hate the idea of sitting on the couch all day to watch other people play. I'd rather go out and do something myself.

5. What was your AOL/AIM screen name back in the day?
I was kind of a big deal, Super7859. I'm sure you heard of me. Haha!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dear William,
I'm pretty sure you can't sneak a baby past me...unless you are going to adopt some kid in Africa without my knowledge, but nice try! Let's work on this property management idea...I'm down to work from home ;) and when you are a Flight Warrant you will be bringing home the gravy and bacon, so I will be able to travel with you, hehe. Lastly, thank you for being athletic, I like your sexy body.
PS. I still hate Jessica Biel, and in case you didn't notice she looks NOTHING like me. Harrumph.
I Really, Like Seriously, Want To Go To France
With a sad, but full heart, I tell you that LoLo is no longer feeling pain.
 photo LoLo2_zps8ad826b0.jpg
At least she went out with a bang, and accomplished everything she wanted to in life. My thoughts are with her family, and particularly her son Bryan. I hope that one day I can tell him all the crazy shenanigans that his mom and I got into. He needs to know how cool she was. Love you, LoLo!
Now onto a brighter note...meet Patricia!
I don't know about you,  but I am ALWAYS sucked into blogs that are written by bloggers in another country. Whether they are natives of said country or Americans abroad, I am always intrigued. Today, I'd like to introduce you to a Newlywed Beauty, who is sharing an intensely romantic story.
My name's Patricia and I'm a happy little American blogger living in France.
 photo 00EngagementPhotosDijon629_zpsfc3abddd.jpg
At 19, I was young, curious, and just itching for adventure. A year long
study abroad program in France seemed glamorous and thrilling. So I stuffed
everything I could into one little suitcase and bought a plane ticket. A
few months later, completely excited, jet lagged, and a little naive, I
showed up in a city that I'd never visited before, not knowing any one or
even if I'd be able to find my apartment in the morning. I barely spoke the
language.
It wasn't long before a sweet lady from church decided to "adopt" me for
the school year. I fell in love with her son the first day we met. I know
how cheesy that sounds, but that's really what happened. He was tall, dark,
handsome, and barely spoke English. At the time we could only see each
other on weekends, when his mom invited me to Sunday dinners. He lived
three hours away from us in the south of France. At the time I thought that
was tough, but he quickly became my world, my first real love.
That school year passed quickly and the end of summer came. I had to go
back to my home university to finish my senior year, because throwing away
my education for a boy that I'd known for less than a year was out of the
question. He promised wait for me, but when he dropped me off at the
airport I couldn't stop from self from crying. I remember being slightly
embarrassed to be sobbing in front of so many strangers while he held me in
front of Geneva airport's Burger King. So not glamorous.
 photo 00almostkisscropped_zpsce050f16.jpg
I'm not going to tell you that living oceans apart was easy, because we
were so in love. People who tell you that are lying. Long distance
relationships suck. I'm also not going to tell you it was the hardest thing
I'd ever done. He was still my best friend, my closest confidant, and
always just a phone call away.  I had a lot to be grateful for.
We learned so much about are selves and our relationship that year. It
allowed us to grow in ways that we wouldn't have been able to otherwise.
When daily Facebook messages and the occasional call on Skype are your only
methods of communication, you learn to be more direct about what you want
to say and how you're really feeling. You also learn how much the other
person really means to you. There's a French proverb that says "Distance is
to love as wind is to fire. If it is a weak love, it will be quickly blown
out. If it is a strong love, the winds will only make it stronger."
We only saw each other in person once during that nine month separation,
one week right around New Year's. He was supposed to come to Nevada to meet
my family, but he broke his ankle the week before and the doctor told him
that he couldn't travel. I hopped on a plane as soon as I heard and went to
go see him.
Just so you know, happy endings do exist :) . After graduation I dropped
everything, bought a plane ticket back to France, and married that boy. We
still appreciate every day that we get to spend together, because we spent
so many days just wishing that we could. Even though I wouldn't ever want
to do the long distance thing again, I'm so thankful to have had that
experience!
March Madness, Almost A Meltdown
Perception Is Everything
Hostesses: Moi and Megan from Growing up Is Kind Of Fun
Co-Hostesses this week:
Whitney from Everything Happens For A Reason
Rebecca from Puddle Of Grace
Michael from Crazy Tragic {Almost} Magic
I have gotten mixed answers as to whether I need to keep or delete my previous iCloud backups, so Saturday I tried to call Apple. The following conversation ensued:
Apple Dude: "M'am, your warranty is up, so we can no longer assist you. You should call your cellular provider."
Me: "Hmm...Well they told me to call you."
Apple Dude: "Sorry m'am. I can't help you."
Me: "You can't be a human being and answer one simple question for another human being?"
Apple Dude: "Hold on. Let me ask the chick next to me. She has an iPhone."
Since when was it okay for a company to just stop helping you when a warranty was up? Shouldn't they be able to help you regarding their product no matter what? Just because Apple puts out books on their product that a user has to purchase $$$, doesn't mean they should be able to stop serving their product users. No, you money grubbers, that does not make me want to go buy an iPhone that is in warranty. It makes me want to buy a DIFFERENT BRAND. Gosh, we are all such suckers, and they know it.
When Will came home, we began talking about my dilemma. All of a Sudden, I got very emotional about it and didn't want to talk about it. You see, I felt that I had been dropping plenty of demands hints that I needed his help and my knight in shining armor hadn't figured it out. I am so used to him taking care of all of the technology issues and just saving the day in general that I didn't understand how he could let me feel so helpless when it came to this stupid problem.
Not only did he figure out the answer to my biggest problem (the iCloud backups), but he got me TWO books on the iCloud for my Kindle. Sometimes the hero just needs a little push ;)
+ Needless to say, my phone is still not updated, but I am closer to it!
+ I went to the gym four times this week and clocked 20 miles.
+ I have been taking my new camera everywhere, so now I have to install the software on my laptop, so that I can upload the pictures!
+ I loaded two boxes up for donations.
+ I am almost done with one of the two books that I planned to read, and now I have added two more to that list.
Now we all need better Blog organization, correct?
It's pretty much always on my to-do list, so I'm going to assume you are nodding your head yes. Our first lovely co-host today, has inspired me to be a planner, so read how you can get her plan of action FREE:
 photo POG_zpsc6b3604e.jpg
When Janna asked if I wanted to be one of her co-hosts for March Madness because I am "awesome at blog organisation" I had to laugh because when it comes to my blog I feel anything but organized, however I knew why she was asking and that was because of my blog planner.
In January I took part in a swap and the theme was resolutions, I was paired with Sarah whose goal for the coming year was to be more organized with her blog and so to help her with this I set about making her a planner. I tried to think of all the things someone with a "big blog" might need and the finished product  consisted of a stats page, monthly view pages, weekly view pages, review and giveaway info, sponsor sheets, guest posting sheets and to do lists.
When I wrote about this planner on my blog I offered to email the printables to anyone who wanted them and Janna was one of the lovely people who said "yes, please." I'm now offering the same to all of  you, just head over here where you can see pictures of each page and if you want me to send them your way just leave me a comment letting me know.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The always fun Michael, is checking in with her goals. I love how this girl keeps it real, and is holding herself accountable.

{March Goals}

Go to the gym at least 3x a week I think I've been doing okay on this bu there's always room for improvement. I didn't want to go to the gym last Monday so instead I did weights at home and then did day 1 of the C25K program. However, Spring Break was this past week, so I completely fell off the wagon. Time to get back to it!

Start building my savings account  I've been being diligent about this. I am so insanely, unbelievably fed up with never having extra money if an impromptu dinner invite comes up. It sounds ridiculous but I always pay too many bills and then have maybe $30 in my account to last me the next 2 weeks. You know what that adds up to? A whole lotta missed shoes fun!

Meal Planning I confess that I haven't been doing this at all. Mainly because when I decided to start doing it I had no specific plan in mind. Meal planning. That was it. Ok, well I've since revamped this and I want to have at least 3 meals planned out or prepped each week. Crock pot friendly recipes are a life saver so I'll be looking into those. Unfortunately, everything I keep seeing is cheesy fatty goodness so I'll be on the look out for lighter options.

Reorganize music and make new playlists I swear this will never be complete. I've very picky about how my music is organized. I just moved everything from my external HD back to my laptop, which was a pain. So far, all is good. I'm still redoing my playlists.

Stay focused in school This sounds like it should be easy but it's not. I take night classes because I work all day. Commuting from Manhattan to NJ to get my car and then driving to school all within 90 minutes is not always easy. It makes for long, exhausting days and when I finally get home, all I want to do is crash. I need to work out a better system for staying on top of everything and still having a life.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And our third fashionista, is Whitney!
You will find her goals for March on her blog. She happens to be the queen of lists, so I was super happy when she asked to participate!
So how is everyone doing?
Cute Kid With Puppy Alert!
'Ello, 'ello!
I am in quite the chipper mood because our Best Man is flying in from Virginia, and we are going to meet him in Keystone on Sunday! It almost didn't happen because Will forgot to tell me he was coming, but I guess it was meant to be 'cuz it all worked out. Aunt Amanda even offered to watch her nephew for us. Her kiddos have been begging to have him over for a visit, and they seriously melts my heart. Just look at this face:
 photo IMG_5858_zps560ff7d2.jpg
In other news, you can find me over here today discussing the "Girl Code" and snaring Prince Charming. I have dubbed myself a talent in the "finding and landing Prince Charming" department, so head over to put your two cents in and/or learn how to snare him if you are single. You know you wanna!
 photo PIElabel.jpg
In case you are wondering who I am visiting today, it is this Pretty Lady that I'm about to introduce. Erin lives in New York City, but is as sweet as a small town girl. Don't let that fool you, though...She is sassy and fun, and I am very happy to present her as the FIRST participant in the Perception Series for 2013!
1. That I needed to have it all figured out.
2. That in order to be successful I needed to stick to the corporate world.
3. That I would be engaged at the age of 23.
4. That I couldn't start over in a new field after spending time and money on a degree.
5. That Santa was real.
6. That certain friendships wouldn't ever fizzle out.
7. That I'd be married to Brad Pitt (the short haired version) by now.
8. That I could eat whatever I wanted whenever I wanted without my abs turning to flub.
1. That I will never, ever have it figured out and that's the beauty of life.
2. That in order to remain happy I needed to get the heck out of the corporate world.
3. That I wouldn't at all want to be engaged at the age of 23.
4. That my degree was most likely the biggest waste of two and a half years of my life.
5. That Santa is instead, family, friends, food, festive outfits, and fun holiday decorations.
6. That certain friendships must be fizzled out if they are fake.
7. That he's not married yet and I still have a chance (that is if his hair is still short).
8. That I might have to incorporate some core workouts into my puppy chow eating capabilities.
1. A prissy little pushover.
2. A girl that looks five years younger than she really is.
3. A stuck-up "too cool for school" bitch because I don't talk to them.
4. An extremely and annoyingly stubborn individual.
5. Ridiculously picky in all aspects of life.
1. That I'm no dummy and will easily stand up for myself in any situation.
2. That when I turn 50 I will greatly appreciate all of the "You look like a 12 year old" jokes.
3. That I'm actually just extremely shy around people that I don't know.
4. That they'll need to help my future husband out in this aspect.
5. That I believe life is too short not to be and this will probably never, ever change.
1. It's a hobby that a thoroughly enjoy.
2. Of the amazing support and encouragement I get from all of my readers.
3. It allows me to have some sort of creative outflow.
4. I get an ab workout while reading some hilarious bloggers' posts.
5. It provides a crap ton of inspiration and advice.
6. I enjoy stalking other people's lives.
7. I would have probably gotten a dog by now if it wasn't for all the puppy pictures I see daily.
8. I need new crock pot recipes.
9. Of the new friends I've acquired through the experience.
10. I couldn't imagine not having this wonderful world in my life everyday.
Oh boy can I relate to the "You look like a 12 year old" jokes. I've actually started telling bartenders that I'm under age when they give me crap about drinking water, and they legit believe me. Sorry to tell ya, but even at 27 it still happens. At least we've tapped in to the Fountain Of Youth.
Well, what are y'all still doing here?
Go say hi!
{Almost} Homecoming
The best day of my life to date is happening in a very short amount of time.
Better than a birthday, better than gazing on the Fjords in Norway or the Shetland Ponies on the Shetland Islands, even better so than my wedding day.
It will be the day that my soldier comes home.
Here is a little diddy that I dedicate to him:
After nine months, he will arrive safe and make me whole once more.
I've heard horror stories of them aborting flights when OPSEC was compromised, so I'm still not saying which day it is, but I promise I will be shouting it from the rafters via other Social Media when it actually occurs. I know I'm probably being overly cautious, but I'd rather be safe than sorry.
Photobucket
I am so happy that Kristine is visiting, because I couldn't come up with a full blog post if my life depended on it. My brain is going every which'a way. Plus this girl ALWAYS makes me smile. She is one of those people that you just can't help but love, so I know that she will be the same for you.
I used to think... I would graduate nursing school, marry Nate, work full time and make moolah until I got {knocked up} and started having us a whole football team made up of mini me's and mini Nate's. All in that order peeps.
Now I know... That things don't always work out exactly how we plan, and that sometimes it works out for the better. God had a bigger plan for me, for us. Being a stay at home mama is seriously the bees knees and I wouldn't trade it for any 9-5 job I could clock in and out of. Football team... ha! More like basketball team. 2 and counting {wink wink}.
People see me as... an always positive, laid back kinda gal.
But I hope that they know... that even tho I do strive to look on the bright side of things in every situation, sometimes that gets too exhausting #truth and a good ugly cry is sometimes needed. I struggle with taking my own advice of staying positive. #practicewhatyoupreach
I blog because... I love it! My blog is where you'll find me {over}sharing and documenting my attempts at being a fun mom and wifey, being "fashionable", and being Suzy Homemaker, ya know throwing in some sweets and some craftoons in the mix. I have never meant to come across to my readers as the perfect family, and how we have it all together, because we don't. I like to make a point of sharing all the blessings we are given, spreading love and light is an easy thing for me. #itscontagious I think documenting and sharing the bad, and even sometimes the dirty parts of life are just as important. Learning and growing is all part of living, I mean really living. So blessed to have found such an amazing community in the "Blog World" and finding other women that I can relate to on so many levels just blows my mind. If you're all about living it up, head on over to our casa and introduce your pretty self! I'd love to follow your adventures as well. If you need some pointers on living young, and wild, and free check this post out. Peace out lovers!! Thanks so much to Janna for having me! XOXOOX
I Am No Quitter
Everyone KNOWS that I am SO ready for Will to come home.
Nod your head yes.
But there are a few pessimists that like to throw their two cents in.
But he will take over the remote..
I use the tv as background noise, so I could care less what's on it.
He will leave the toilet seat up.
He rarely does that, and guess what? I don't let it bother me if he does.
You will have to share the bed
Sweet. We got a Queen (vs. a king) so that we could cuddle and that's just what I plan on doing.
He's going to demand a lot of sex.
Can you tell me what the problem is with that? Isn't that the good part of marriage?
But there is one that I would really like to clear up...
You are going to quit blogging.
Um...never. I will have to time manage when it comes to blogging, but blogging about our life is why I started in the first place and now we get to LIVE our life. Plus you all know how much you mean to me. There is no way that I could just give up on all the relationships I have formed in the past two years.
I hope that you can all bare with me during this transition, but fear not...I am NOT quitting blogging.
Photobucket
As a matter of fact, my visitor today exhibits a reason why I love blogging.
I love that we all relate to each other by sharing the good AND the bad.
I would now like to introduce you to Coley from Planned Spontaneity.
Take it away girl!
Happy 1st anniversary to myself!
That line above might sounds a little weird, especially if you read my blog and know about my boyfriend Alex. But no, I am not talking about us, but just myself. About a year ago I went through the most painful experience of my life.
I know that I probably sound ultra dramatic saying “most painful experience” but honestly besides somebody close to me dying, what I went through was hell and I wouldn’t wish it upon anyone. This subject is very touchy and I will do my best to explain my views without stepping on anyone’s toes: A year ago a relationship I was in ended but this relationship was with a guy who had bipolar disorder. I’m not sure if you really know much about bi-polar, I know I didn’t before this relationship.
 About 1%-2% of Americans are diagnosed with bi-polar disorder. There are five major types of bi-polar and men account for more cases than women. This disorder is characterized by manic “episodes” and depression “episodes”. These episodes can last from a few weeks to months.
What statistics can’t tell you is what it is like to live through one of these episodes. To me the depression episodes were easy. He was sad but they were always manageable. Manic episodes however, well those are the scariest thing I have ever lived though.
Bear with me for one moment and try to imagine something. You may not have a significant other, so if not imagine this with your closest friend or sibling. Imagine your significant other suddenly not acting like the person you know and trust. Imagine this person spending all of their/your money. Imagine this person no longer sleeping and skipping important events like school or work. Imagine this person acting reckless and crazy and trying to self-medicate. Imagine the security you normally feel in a loving relationship replaced with a hostile and angry person. Finally imagine this person telling you they no longer love you (even though you know it is just the manic episode talking and hope the episode will pass faster this time around).
You might feel as I am being unfair and believe me I know that having bi-polar disorder is not something anyone chooses to have. However, I also feel as if there isn’t enough support for people that live with/are in a relationship with someone with bi-polar disorder whether it’s a parent/child relationship, a sibling relationship, or a relationship with a significant other. It is so difficult to watch someone you love be “taken over” by this illness when there is nothing you can do about it. It is a very lonely and stressful time for the people who have a relationship with the individual as well. There is no such thing as talking sense into someone who is experiencing a manic episode. I am a fighter and fought so hard for this relationship even through the manic episodes. I called therapists and included his family in the situation.
I tried everything. And I failed.
I won’t go into the next part of the story in major detail but one of the possible symptoms of bi-polar disorder is hypersexuality. Many people don’t want to talk about this symptom because it is taboo but it exists, and it is often the hardest part of the manic episode to deal with. Basically I found out that he attempted and/or had cheated on me many, many times during the last manic episode.  This was something I couldn’t overlook. I couldn’t have this manic phase pass and then have it happen all over again in 6 months or whenever the next manic phase would eventually come.
I cried. I sobbed for days straight. I faced moving out all alone in the middle of a school semester when all my friends were already paired up. I continued working and going to school full-time. I cried some more. I mourned a relationship to a man I thought I was going to marry while still living with him. I apartment searched every spare minute, I honestly checked listings 5 times a day. I let my girlfriends take me out to dinner and let my co-workers spoil me with kindness and heart to heart conversations. I couldn’t get him to go in to see a therapist, so you know what I went myself, and it helped.
And after 7 long weeks of this living arrangement and after I had just about given up hope, I responded to a craigslist ad of all things and met the 3 amazing ladies who would become my future roommates and best friends.
I went though the worst experience of my life and failed at a relationship, but I still managed to have my best year at college ever. I learned to walk on my own and to put myself first. I moved in with 3 complete strangers. I learned to fall in love again. I learned to let my guard down and let others help me. I remember breaking down and crying one day right after a class ended (the person asked me how I was since I wasn’t looking so hot).  I actually opened up to that person (opening up to someone that I am not already close to is difficult for me) and we became really close over that year just because they had the kindness to ask me if I was ok.
This quote pretty much sums up my story. I can never undo the hurt and pain I went through but instead of letting it define me, I used this experience to make myself a stronger and happier person. I am the most confident I have ever been and know this wouldn't be true if I hadn't lived through this experience. I see many aspects of life in a different view now, sometimes being forcefully kicked out of your comfort zone can lead you to be the person you are supposed to be.
I'm ALIVE!
I am happy to say that we fared Sandy quite well!
We didn't even lose power, and I just hope to hear good news from all of you, as well.
In other good news, go check out the giveaway on Living In Yellow! There are 28 fabulous prizes, so you don't want to miss out. I can't put the link, because I am having limited internet capabilities, but you can find Erin's button on my sidebar. I'm assuming you probably already know her fabulousness, but if not...RUN and check her out!
I also hope you all have your costumes ready, but just in case, here's a little more inspiration from my fave fashionista! Now it's time for my vacation to really kick off, and Kelly is kind enough to take over for the day. What would I do without you GF?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

hellllllllo loves & Happy Halloween!!! so while Janna is off celebrating her birthday I'm here today to get you all in the spirit for Halloween tomorrow!!! Some of you might already know me but for those of you who don't - I'm Kelly & I write a fashion & lifestyle blog called Messy.Dirty.Hair.

I love celebrating the holidays...any holiday. Halloween happens to be one of my favorites. However, at the age I am at now - 27 - I feel like we don't get to participate in all the fun of Halloween like we used too. I trick -or-treated alllllll the way up until I had to leave for college. I know a lot of people stop when they reach high school but I kept going. To be honest, I still would if people didn't ask me my age. I don't understand why there needs to be an age limit to trick-or-treating. But anyways I have had a lot of really fun Halloweens...so I'm just going to take you down Halloween memory lane ----->

oh yes that's a paint on mustache

Don't you just love my junky 80's Minnie Mouse Costume? I was only 3 years old here circa 1988

Sorry for the bad picture quality - i had to take a picture of a picture

again bad picture quality - this was 4th grade, I am in the middle - I was Pebbles Flintstone

Sooo fast forward to college & Halloween is even more fun because it's a whole weekend of Halloween which means-----> multi-costumes!! I remember we would celebrate Halloween for 3-4 days. And for each party I had a different costume.

And we all know Halloween is the one time when we can get away with the 'sexy' costumes. Everything always ends up sexy - sexy doctor, sexy pumpkin, sexy race car driver. It always cracks me up.

One thing though is my mom would never let me spend a lot of money on Halloween costumes when I was younger. I hated her for it. But I realized as I got older I was glad she made me be more creative because in college I never bought anything, I just made costumes with what I had or what friends had. Take a peek --->

'sexy' captain hook

so totally 80s

'sexy' boy scout

not really sexy cowgirl...& i hated this costume btw. nothing about me is country.

So when I got a boyfriend of course I made him and I dress as a pair.....& by the way, if he knew this photo of him was on a public site he would kill me so shhhhh
Captain Hook & Peter Pan

& then of course the next year I had to change it up a little bit. I hate repeating costumes...but the BF stayed the same except we got a legitimate Peter Pan hat from Disneyland

Tinkerbell & Peter Pan

And now because I have had to work every Halloween I just went with a simple Cat costume

so proud of our pumpkin carving skills

'sexy' cat

However my favorite thing about Halloween is seeing all the little kiddos all dressed up. I happen to babysit the cutest kids EVER, so last Halloween we had a mini costume photo shoot
Ladybug, Cat, Mr. Incredible
Ladybug had a costume change - she's a bunny!
