Next weekend, we will be attending our FIRST Military Ball, and I have nothing to wear. This town has the most hideous dresses/nothing in my size, and now that I realize this, it is too late to order something.

There is a slight chance that my friend has two dresses that might work, but I'm trying to prepare for worst case scenario. Obviously, I nee HELP!

Hi there, I have been reading your blog for about 4 months but I've never commented! Try renttherunway.com, you could very possibly order it and have it by next weekend. You can order 2 sizes for the price of one dress also! I love that website!! I've been to quite a few military events as my husband is in the Navy. If it's an actual ball, my recommendation would be to get something long, especially with it being winter! :) If it's like a holiday party, then go with short!

Black or red. But honestly red is more appropriate. Don't worry you'll be probably the most decent one there. Alot of balls I've been to the "joes" all have strippers for dates & you can image when comes walking in with a so called dress one. Lol. Just saying.

I love both the black and the red one and I think either would be appropriate for a military ball. Lord knows, some girls go all out prom, so I think a classic look works best!
If you are stressing about something to wear though, you should check out Rent the Runway!! They will overnight your dress to you and you get to wear a beautiful designer dress for a very reasonable price. Janna, all are pretty and I know they will all look fabulous. I'm kind of a fan of the red dress with a smokey eye and glossed lip. You can play with the heels.
The black dress you can accessorize more "freely." But the red dress has this classic look that I think would accompany your man in uniform best.

The red J. Crew is my favorite! I think that would be perfect with some jewelry to dress it up along with a fabulous pair of heels. But you will look beautiful no matter what you wear :) And what a fun date night for you and the hubs!
Eeek! Fashion Emergency. The red J crew looks very appropriate. It seems that most balls are more formal not that you won't ever see cocktail length dresses at them but I'd say the length on the red one and the fit just seems more formal and fitting for the ball. You will look amazing in whatever you decide.

This might be corny, but when my husband and I go out, we always make sure what we're wearing either matches or doesn't clash for pictures. So...wear what looks best with Will's uniform that he'll be wearing.
And just for kicks...I think the red would be more appropriate for a ball.

A few of my co-workers are military wives and I'd say the red one would be awesome based on pics I have seen form their "balls"! There is always a lot of black but I know the red would look so good on you, you would not blend in to the sea of "little black dresses", and it's totally appropriate. :)
