I Need Your Travel Advice For CHI-Town!

You may have noticed my hint that we will be in Chicago soon, but in case you didn't, we will be visiting Virginia, Ohio, and Illinois, in the near future. I can't tell you when because I have at least one stalker out there that doesn't need to know our exact business, but comment if you are in the those areas and would like to meet up! I've already talked to Holly about rendezvousing, so come join us!

This will be my first time in Ohio and our first time in Chicago! What should we do while in Chicago? I know about the Coffee Bean and the Sky Deck, but I'm clueless as to anything else. Any and all suggestions would be awesome!

Has anyone ever purchased a Go Chicago Card? I feel like it's worth the money to have entry into all the main attractions, but I don't know how much we will actually be able to squeeze into two or three days. Are there any to-die-for restaurants or must do activities? Do tell ;)

Now I will leave you with a few pictures that I submitted for a contest. I stumbled upon said contest over on Samantha's blog, and thought that $1,000 and a chance to be in Military Spouse Magazine sounded fun. I don't actually think I will win since we don't have many good quality pictures in uniform, but I figured I might as well at least try.

They aren't near as good as Samantha's pictures, but they most certainly put a smile on my face! Well, everyone have an awesome weekend, and don't forget to share your tips for Chicago. I want to get this trip planned, because I am SO ready for a real vacation!

  2. New commenter, long time follower :) Chicago is my absolute favorite place! I live in Michigan and we're only about 4 hours away, so my fiancé and I go there whenever we get the chance! He actually proposed on the Navy Pier. I'm a fan of all things touristy haha.. In the past we considered the pass but it seems like you would have to have a strict itinerary to fit all of it in. For us it was nice to do it all at our own pace. But for the money, if you're down for one+ days of a schedule (and I think you can skip the lines?) then definitely go for it! If you get the chance, head to Lincoln Park! They have a free zoo and you could catch a Cubs game, if that floats your boat. No matter what you do, you can't go wrong in Chicago :)

  3. Navy Pier, Lincoln Park zoo (free), walking Michigan Ave, Uno's Pizza, perhaps a Cubs game, water taxi or an architectural tour by boat of the city, Dinner water boat cruise. There are some great places to see once you leave the city proper too. There is the riverwalk area of Naperville and then also Great America. There are some cute suburban towns.

  13. We were just in Chicago in March. If you like museums, they definitely have some cool ones, and the Shedd Aquarium is fun, too. Lots of people I know go there for shopping, but I think the shopping is overrated. Plus they have, like, 11% sales tax compared to 6% where I live!

  14. Beautiful pictures. I don't have very many with my husband while he is in uniform either...I should get on that!

  17. I was in Chicago for Memorial Day weekend and first you have to have deep dish pizza a Lou Malnati's also order the cheese cubes (like mozzarella sticks but tiny and better!)

Shedd Aquarium was awesome the stingray touch was one of the coolest things I have ever done! Also make sure to see the aquatic show!

And ride the swings and ferris wheel at Navy Pier so fun!

Hope you have a great time!

  21. Chicago is SO much fun! You guys will have a blast! Definitely see the Bean and take ridiculous photos with it. And just exploring downtown is lots of fun. My husband's favorite pizza place is Lou Malnati's (it is hands down his favorite pizza ever) and mine is Giordano's! They are both really great. :)
