In Grandma's Honor

Sunday night my phone went off and my heart fell.
It was my dad and I knew that if he was calling me that late, something bad had happened.
I was actually relieved to here that Grandma had fallen, but wasn't in eminent danger.

This woman is where I get my entire being from, so the thought of losing her is impossible to fathom. I've decided she has to outlive me.

My wonderful, amazing Grandma!!!

Come to find out, she had a little spill in Target and ended up with a broken Humerus in her shoulder. Besides the fact that she's in her eighty's, she just recently got off preventative chemo and that is probably what weakened her bones.
I'm just thankful that it hasn't weakened her spirit.

My ride or die b$@#%$S! http://instagr.am/p/I2eJqJK-Nw/
Grandma on the left and Aunt Boots on the right.

I already lost one grandmother to breast cancer (before I was even born), and that's another reason that I hold on to this one so tight. In both of my grandmothers honor, I am proud to say that I am part of a giveaway on Erin's blog for Pinktober! It is all about spreading awareness and supporting Komen For The Cure, so go enter and spread the word!

Feel better soon, Grandma, and I'll talk to you when you are off the Lortab.
Love you!

  13. You are absolutely, without-a-doubt, the biggest sweetheart. What a touching post! I am extremely close to my family, but especially to my grandparents because I have the most amazing memories of growing up with them. I loved this, and even teared up a little bit. 100% agree on them having to outlive us! It's a must :)

  21. This is so sweet and I'm glad she's okay! I used to have a pretty close relationship with my grandma too! She is still alive and kicking (thank goodness) but she isn't always lucid enough to know who I am and or what's going on. I still hug her tight though :)

  34. I never met my paternal grandparents :( my maternal grandfather passed before i was even born... or he went missing in the woods back in his homeland... i have only met my maternal grandmother, even then, we didn't get much time w/ her b/c we are the eldest of grandchildren and she spends a lot of time w/ my other cousins... whom are all under the age of 18!! both my folks are the oldest of their siblings. i think this is why my dad values family so much.

hope your grandma is feeling better today! xoxo all my love!!!
