8 Hours of Agony

I love renting for the simple fact that we get a free brand spankin' new roof on our house today.
I hate renting because I didn't get any say on when they did it, so now I have spent my day off listening to mariachi music, power tools, and what sounds like an army on my roof.

The worst part is that I'm afraid to go to the bathroom, because there is a skylight DIRECTLY above the toilet. For future reference: if you put a skylight in the bathroom, don't put it over the pisspot. Epic fail.

About the only thing I accomplished was submitting to Dog Shaming.

Let's see if  that one shows up on the site, and don't worry, Weiser will be telling you aaaaall about that soon. He's due for a blog visit :)

Now excuse me, I have to go find some way to cover that skylight.
I don't feel like groggily using the restroom in front of them when I wake up for work tomorrow morning.

  1. Man, I wish I could get a free new roof. Sadly, we own our home that needs a new roof. :(
Hopefully they wrap it up soon so you can go back to using your bathroom in peace. ;)

  3. Oh my goodness, that's awful (about the skylight over the toilet)! Yikes! On the bright side, a new roof is good stuff! :)

And I hope your pup makes it on Dog Shaming. That website is hilarious! Looking forward to hearing what happened!

  6. Silly puppy! Can't wait to read bout that. Good luck with the roof being done! I just had mine repaired and it was not fun. Granted I do not have a sky light over my pisspot.

  8. bahahahaha. I've always wondered why people put skylights in bathrooms. Guess they never think about the possibility of needing workers on their roof!!

  9. Ok, that is an interesting place to put a sky light, I must admit.

  10. That is definitely not the ideal spot for a skylight lol.

  11. Yay for not having to pay for a new roof; we had a new roof put on our house a few years ago and I about threw up at the cost. And, seriously? Who puts a skylight in the bathroom right over the toilet?!

  12. i'll remember that about the roof!
now i imagine it, yes it's kinda scary to look at a direct sky while you do your business. esp at night

  13. Our house got a new roof a few years ago, fortunately before we moved in. I do wish our landlord would look into a few other "updates" soon...

  14. OMG your SW's!? No!! Hahaha...mariachi band. We had ours done a couple months ago and I looked outside to see the guy carrying a full size microwave to plug in via an extension cord to make lunch :| He could've used ours...!

  15. Hahaha I read this at like 1am and "pisspot" literally made me LOL! Thanks for that!! :)

Yes, totally weird there's a skylight above the toilet! Hope you were able to cover it!

Also, meant to comment about your last post about Will having a return date!! Congratulations!!! I'm SO happy for you both :) Random question but does he still have to work FT when he gets back? Or do they give him a few months of rest (which they totally should!!)?

  25. I have no idea what Stuart Weitzmans are, but I am assuming they are like a shoe or something else you would find valuable! My kittie just ruined my new $60 pair of heels that I wore once. He gave me those cute eyes too!

And sky light over a toilet, someone wasn't thinking!

  26. You're a trip! I was in Seattle once and there was a skylight/window above the toilet and I loved that it could be propped open, but in your situation. You're right. Not ideal.

  27. Well, congratulations on that new roof! :) Anyway, there are different ways to cover your skylight, and you can even search for DIY techniques on how to do this on the Internet. You may also find various covers for your sunlight, some of which contain properties that can reduce heat. Anyway, how will you not love that cute face? Adorable! >_<

  28. You’re right! A skylight in the bathroom is an important, yet less expensive update, but you should position it wisely. Putting it right above the toilet seems weird, particularly when the sun is at its peak at noon. It would probably feel like you’re going to be taken by aliens or something! I think the best location is somewhere near the tub. ;]

  29. @Mariam: The “alien” thing really made me laugh. You have a great imagination, huh! ;) Well, aside from that, I also feel uncomfortable to take a bath if the skylight was installed right above the toilet. It feels awkward, as I think there might be someone up there sneaking. You know what I mean, right? Haha!
